CLARENCE BANK IS ROBBED SHORTLY AFTER IT OPENS

An undetermined amount of cash was stolen early Saturday in a robbery at Charter One Bank, 6545 Transit Road, Clarence, authorities said.

The robber entered the bank shortly after it opened at 9 a.m., told the teller he had a gun and, in a note, demanded cash. He then drove out of the bank parking lot in a four-door white or cream-colored Nissan or Honda vehicle, investigators said. No weapon was displayed during the robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 856-7800 or the sheriff's department at 662-5554. Amherst police and State Police also assisted in the investigation.

Erie County sheriff's deputies and FBI agents were continuing to investigate the holdup.
