Torn S. George, a former employee of Par Industries, died Thursday in Roswell Park Cancer Institute after a brief illness. She was 60.
Known as "Sylvia," she was born in Buriram, Thailand, one of 11 children in the Sala family. She emigrated to the United States after marrying David A. George in 1972.
Mrs. George worked at Par Industries for more than 10 years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and her family.
Besides her husband, survivors include a son, Jimmey S. of North Tonawanda; a daughter, Sandy Pellegrino of Amherst; two grandsons; and family members in Thailand.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hilliard-Creasey Funeral Home, 147 Delaware St., City of Tonawanda. Her family will take her ashes to Thailand for interment.
