Christine Stepien of Youngstown, a nurse at Buffalo General Hospital, died Thursday in her home after a brief illness. She was 54.
Mrs. Stepien attended schools in Buffalo and graduated from D'Youville College with a degree in nursing. During her 10 years at Buffalo General, she helped form the Nursing Union Local 1168 of the Communication Workers of America.
She is survived by her husband, John Jr., and daughter, Rachel, both of Youngstown; her mother, Nancy Baker of Hamburg; and two brothers, Dr. James Baker of California and Timothy Baker of Florida.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today in Labuda Funeral Home, 356 Portage Road, Niagara Falls. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
