The stocks of companies with operations in the Buffalo area fell this week, led by Motorola Inc. and Sears Roebuck & Co.
The Buffalo Bloomberg Stock Index fell 4.72, or 2.3 percent, to 205.39 for the week. Thirty-nine stocks fell, 15 rose and two were unchanged.
Sears led the decliners. The company posted an unexpected third-quarter loss and cut its annual profit forecast. The shares fell $5.20, or 13.9 percent, to $32.52.
Motorola fell $1.89, or 10 percent, to $16.56. The company said it had lost market share to Nokia Oyj and other competitors.
J.C. Penney Co. rose $1.52, or 4.2 percent, to $38.20.
