ALFRED SCIPIEN <br> NOV. 5, 1920 -- OCT. 20, 2004

Alfred "Skippy" Scipien of Lancaster, a retired employee of Dresser Industries, died Wednesday in St. Joseph Hospital, Cheektowaga. He was 83.

The Depew native was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, serving as an aircraft armorer with the 759th Bomb Squadron in the European Theater.

Mr. Scipien worked 20 years as a fabricator for Twin Coach Industries and then 16 years as a coremaker for Dresser Industries, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of Twin Village Post 463, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Depew, and the Lancaster Senior Center. He enjoyed gardening and playing bingo, cards and pool.

Survivors include his wife, the former Irene Kolodziejczak of Lancaster, and a sister, Florence Romanczak of Depew.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. today in St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 425 Penora St., Depew, after prayers at 9:45 in Pacer Funeral Home, 428 Penora St., Depew. Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Lancaster.
