ONTARIO SEARCH UNDER WAY FOR MISSING BUFFALO WOMAN

Search crews today continued their hunt for a missing 40-year-old Buffalo woman who has been known to walk long distances and avoid interaction with strangers, Niagara Regional Police said today.

Maria Repec, of Mayfair Lane, had been staying in a cottage in the Pinecrest Road area in Port Colborne. Early Wednesday morning, family members noticed that she was missing. She was last seen in the area of Fire Lane 2 and Weaver Road.

An extensive search using K-9 dogs and thermal-imaging equipment failed to locate the woman on Thursday.

Repec is described as white, about 5 foot 4 and 110 pounds, with a slim build, shoulder-length straight dark brown hair, hazel eyes and possibly wearing glasses.

Niagara Regional Police suggest that home and cottage owners in the general area check their property for the missing woman, who could be staying in a shack or small building on their property.

Anyone with information is asked to call Niagara Regional Police at (905) 735-7811.
