Roger D. Staudigl, 27, of Olean, was sentenced Thursday to four to eight years in prison by Cattaraugus County Judge Larry M. Himelein on burglary convictions for break-ins in Allegany on June 21 and Olean on June 28.
Staudigl's co-defendant, Pierre J. Prenatt, 44, also of Olean, was sentenced Sept. 28 by Himelein to five to 10 years for the same break-ins, which involved the theft of food and cash, court officials said. Prenatt got a longer term as a prior offender.
The work of the Olean Police Department and Officer Barry Clawson in particular was lauded by Cattaraugus County District Attorney Edward M. Sharkey for solving the cases.
Court officials said that Staudigl six years ago served a brief prison term on an attempted grand larceny plea and for fighting with Olean police when they arrested him.
