Andrew Nellis, adopted son of Eden Supervisor Glenn Nellis, pleaded guilty Thursday to reduced rape charges for what his lawyer called "consensual" acts with underaged girls from 2002 to last May.
Erie County Judge Sheila A. DiTullio allowed Nellis, 23, to remain free on bail after he entered the plea to four counts of statutory rape for being sexually intimate with four underage girls.
Thomas J. Eoannou, Nellis' attorney, stressed that the Erie County district attorney's office offered the statutory rape pleas after private investigators proved Nellis never forced himself sexually on any of the four girls.
Scott F. Riordan, assistant chief of the district attorney's Sexual Assault Bureau, confirmed that Nellis was allowed to plead guilty to one count of second-degree rape and three counts of third-degree rape -- all statutory rape charges.
The prosecutors said the charges, involved four girls, 14, 15 and 16 years old.
Nellis could face up to 19 years in prison, but also could receive probation. Neither Nellis or his father could be reached to comment.
In May, Nellis was charged with molesting a 14-year-old family friend while driving her home last May 6.
