Marion A. Szuflita of Buffalo, a retired teacher, died Wednesday in Ridgeview Manor nursing home in Lackawanna after a long illness. She was 83.
Born in Marion Miller in Buffalo, she graduated from Brockport State College, where she majored in education and played softball. She also earned a master's degree in school administration from the University of Buffalo.
She taught first through eighth grades in the Frontier Central School District from 1940 through 1955, when she retired to raise her daughter.
At South Park United Presbyterian Church in Buffalo, she was a member of Martha's Circle and the Women's Guild. She was also a Girl Scout leader, camp counselor at Westminster Camp and a member of Brockport's Alumni Association.
Her husband of 33 years, Edward, died in 1988.
She is survived by a daughter, Joanne of Buffalo.
Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday in South Park United Presbyterian Church, 519 McKinley Parkway. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna.
