A Stanley Street man was arrested on a warrant for grand larceny and petit larceny charges Thursday, but not before the Buffalo police SWAT squad surrounded his home for several hours, according to police reports.
Thomas E. Dohopolski, 19, is accused of taking his father's ATM card from a bedroom drawer, activating it and then withdrawing $100 from an East Lovejoy Street ATM Wednesday morning.
He was wanted on a warrant when police were called to his home at 114 Stanley St. at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Dohopolski's mother initially reported to police that her son broke into her house and barricaded himself inside. She believed he had a gun because he stole one from the house.
SWAT personnel surrounded the property and closed off the street.
After a few hours, police determined Dohopolski was not inside the house but learned he was down the street. Officers tracked him down and arrested him without incident.
