EX-DEALERSHIP OFFICER ADMITS GRAND LARCENY

A former corporate officer of an area car dealership pleaded guilty to grand larceny for embezzling over $96,000 from the business, court officials said Thursday.

Ruth LaRusso, 42, of Lockport, former secretary-treasurer and controller of Jim Murphy Pontiac GMC Truck, 3000 Walden Ave., Depew, was allowed to remain free after pleading guilty before State Supreme Court Justice Penny M. Wolfgang.

LaRusso had worked at the car dealership for 13 years before she was fired in June 2002.

Wolfgang agreed to place her on probation for five years after she made a payment of $10,000 and signed a confession of judgment obligating her to repay another $60,000 to the dealership.

Prosecutor Candace K. Vogel and Sunil Bakshi, attorney for the dealership, said insurance carriers have made a payment satisfying the rest of the stolen money.
