With Halloween on the horizon and the holidays closing in fast, it's nice to take time out from the hoopla and bask in the beauty of an a cappella vocal group. Vocalis, a chamber choir now beginning its third season, would be an especially happy choice. The choir is presenting two concerts this weekend, in two of Buffalo's most beautiful churches. At 8 p.m. today Vocalis will sing in St. Paul's Cathedral, 128 Pearl St. At 7 p.m. Sunday, the program repeats in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1029 Delaware Ave.
Music Director Jamis Burritt will lead the chorus in music from the Renaissance to the 20th century. There will be music by Byrd, Purcell, Vaughan Williams, Poulenc, Durufle, Clausen and Sametz. Tickets will be available at the door.
