One woman narrowly escaped injury as two apartments were severely damaged Tuesday afternoon in a "suspicious" blaze on Myrtle Street, village police reported.
The fire broke out at about 2:30 p.m. at 115 Myrtle. Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames and smoke pouring out of the apartments. Five fire companies battled the blaze and brought it under control in about an hour.
No estimate of damage was available Wednesday.
Three teens are being credited for their quick action in calling 911 and alerting an occupant of the apartment about the fire. She got out safely.
The occupants of the apartments were assisted by the American Red Cross.
Officials classified the fire as suspicious and said an investigation is continuing.
