About 80 mature marijuana plants were seized from what police called "a sophisticated grow operation" in an apartment on Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga, town police reported.
Paul D. Gorom Jr., 33, was charged with felony criminal possession of marijuana and unlawful growing of cannabis.
Cheektowaga narcotics investigators raided the apartment at about 10:30 a.m. with a search warrant from Town Justice Ronald E. Kmiotek.
The value of the marijuana was estimated at $2,000.
Police said the apartment was remodeled to accommodate large growing hoods, special lights, timers, fans and heaters. The equipment was seized along with the drugs, police said.
The raid culminated a two-month investigation that began with an anonymous tip, police said.
