KERRY BROOKS, SPECIAL-EDUCATION TEACHER <br> DEC. 30, 1953 -- OCT. 14, 2004

Kerry Noel Brooks died Thursday in Swedish Medical Center, Seattle. She was 50.

Born Kerry Brooks in Gowanda, she graduated from Gowanda Central School and received a master's degree in special education from Buffalo State College.

Mrs. Brooks was a special-education teacher at Pine Valley Central School for 27 years.

She was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Pine Valley and Cherry Creek and a member of the Auxiliary of Post 1593, American Legion; South Dayton United Methodist Church; the Pine Valley Teachers Association; and the New York State United Teachers.

She is survived by a daughter, Cara N. Ewell Hodkin of North Tonawanda; three brothers, Michael Gleason of Centennial, Colo., Jeffrey Brooks of Jacksonville, Ark., and Kyle Brooks of Gowanda; four sisters, Pamela West of Port Angeles, Wash., Leslie Bennett of McLean, Va., Tracey Brooks of Chandler, Ariz., and Barrie Brooks of South Dayton; and a granddaughter.

A memorial service will be at 8 p.m. Friday in Pine Valley Central School, 7827 Route 83.
