Two former Kaufman's Bakery buildings in Buffalo were sold at auction on Wednesday, along with equipment from the now-defunct baking operations.

The former main plant, at 2381 Fillmore St., was sold for $170,000 to Emerling Food in Attica, said David Fiegel, director of Buffalo operations for Michael Fox International, which ran the auction.

Emerling plans to use the building as a food warehouse, Fiegel said.

A second plant, at 296 E. Ferry St., was sold for $160,000 to Ron Alsheimer of the Plaza Group, Fiegel said.

The building's current tenant, Sodexho Marriott, leases all of the space and has signed a five-year lease to remain in the property. Alsheimer said he plans to make some cosmetic changes to the front of the building.

"I think we have two buyers who got good opportunities and will breathe some life back into them," Fiegel said.

The equipment was sold to a variety of buyers, including some from outside the country, Fiegel said.
