A rites of passage ceremony and performance of African songs and interpretive dances by 41 young women will be sponsored by Gamma Phi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at 6:30 p.m. today in McKinley High School. "Moving Right Along Through the Magic of My Life" is the theme of the program, directed by Janet E. Barnes. Co-chairwomen are Gina Mayo-Hawk and Ingrid Johnson-Jacobs. The event is free and open to the public.

New members and music lovers will be welcomed at a coffee given by Women's Committee of the Orchard Park Symphony Orchestra at 10 a.m. next Thursday in St. Peter United Church of Christ, 1475 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca. Orchestra members will wear Halloween costumes for a concert Oct. 29 in Orchard Park Middle School and audience members in costume will vie for best costume prizes.

Holy Mother of the Rosary Cathedral will have a "ladies night out," featuring early Christmas shopping items and fashions, wine and cheese tasting and a silent auction from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday in the Bishop Peplowski Parish Center, 6298 Broadway, Lancaster. "Fall Towel Bingo" sponsored by the Cathedral Senior Citizens Council will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 7 in the parish center. A $3 donation includes dessert and coffee.

Sandra Velasco of Everywoman Opportunity Center will speak on "Business and Professional Traits for Entrepreneurial Success" at a dinner for Zonta Club of Amherst at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Fanny's restaurant. The social hour will start at 5:30. Members are asked to take good quality clothing suitable for job interviews as donations for the center. Alice P. Russ is taking reservations at 834-6207.
