Seigmund C. Hoppe, of North Tonawanda, a retired factory worker, died Sunday in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda, after a battle with cancer. He was 90.
Born in Williamsville, one of seven children, he worked to assist his family during the Depression. Drafted into the Navy in 1944, he took part in the Normandy invasion during World War II. He worked as an assembler for Wurlitzer, Remington Rand and Science Kit, retiring in 1991.
He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Tonawanda Seniors and Akron Seniors.
His wife, the former Luetta Ribbeck, died in 1991.
Surviving are a son, William R. of the Town of Tonawanda; and two grandchildren.
Services were today in Greco Funeral Home, Town of Tonawanda. Burial was in Friedens Cemetery, Wheatfield.
