John C. Mesch of Collins, 79, a longtime farmer and postal worker, died Sunday in Bertrand Chaffee Hospital, Springville.
Born in Collins, Mr. Mesch served in the Army during World War II.
He was a dairy farmer and a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Collins for 33 years before retiring.
He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Collins Center and its Holy Name Society and a former member of the Collins Center Grange, Collins Center Cemetery Association and Tri-County Square Dance Club of Sardinia.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, the former Elinor J. Kidd; two sons, Keith of Cincinnati and Daryl of Lexington, Ky.; two daughters, Teri Seufert of North Boston and Connie Ploetz of Collins; two sisters, Pearl Semon of Brocton and Harriet Sheldon of Gowanda; a brother, Orrin of Angola; and 12 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 13940 Sisson Highway, Collins Center. Burial will be in Collins Center Cemetery.
