Darwood H. "Don" Treat died Tuesday in his Attica home while under hospice care, after a short illness. He was 86.
Born in Silver Springs, he retired from Westinghouse Corp. in Attica in 1980.
His parents died when he was a young boy, and he went to live with an older sister in in Renfrew, Ont. He served in the Canadian Army for seven years and returned to the United States in 1946.
Mr. Treat was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and the International Order of Odd Fellows.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, the former Lillian Ayls-worth; three daughters, Donna Johnson and Vicki Reuben, both of Attica, and Sue Almeter of Warsaw; three sons, Bruce of Attica, Terry of Schenectady and Bill of Warsaw; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be scheduled in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 30 Favor St.
