LPGA Tour rookie Isabelle Beisiegel shot a 12-over 84 Tuesday in the first round of a regional PGA Tour qualifying tournament in La Quinta, Calif.

Trying to become the first woman to earn a spot on the men's tour, Beisiegel had four double-bogeys, five bogeys and a birdie over the 7,156-yard Greg Norman Course at PGA West.

Her score was the second-highest among 84 golfers trying to earn one of 23 berths into sectional qualifying.

"I hit my 14 fairways. I hit it well," Beisiegel said. "It's just a matter of putting it together and getting more comfortable."

The 25-year-old Canadian made $120,586 on the LPGA Tour this year, earning a full exemption for next season.

The tournament continues through Friday with no cut in the field.
