Colleen Rieser of the Town of Tonawanda, a retired Buffalo teacher, died Wednesday at home under Hospice care. She was 77.
The Buffalo native was a graduate of Kensington High School and had a bachelor of arts degree from Buffalo State College.
She taught in the Buffalo school system -- primarily at School 80 -- from 1949 to 1981, when she retired. She was a member of the Buffalo Teachers Federation.
Mrs. Rieser moved to the Town of Tonawanda in 1955.
She was a member of AARP, and was an avid reader who enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling and camping. She also was a movie buff.
She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Werner; two daughters, Candace C. Heitz of the Town of Tonawanda, and Bonnie J. Beam of Grand Island; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Amigone Funeral Home, 2600 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda. Burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
