Hawk Creek Wildlife Center in East Aurora will hold its 17th annual Wildlife & Art Festival in Renaissance style Saturday and Sunday.

Each day will feature a release of barn owls hatched in Hawk Creek's breeding project. There will also be bald eagles on display, and many other demonstrations.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Admission is $10 per adult, $8 for seniors, $5 for children and $25 for a family pass. Tickets are at the Walden Galleria mall customer service desk, at the gate, call 652-8646 or see

The Cheektowaga Indians 16-under baseball team represented Erie County in the 17-team Mickey Mantle State Tournament last weekend in Albany, where they went 4-1 to finish second.

The Riverside Soccer Club Express boys under-16 team from Buffalo won five of six games to finish second at the USA Cup at the National Sports Center in Minneapolis. The USA Cup is the largest youth soccer tournament in North America and attracted 981 teams from 31 states and 20 countries.

Riverside won all three of its qualifying games. In the quarterfinals it beat KC United, 3-2 on penalties, and in the semifinals they topped Meadhaven United from Jamaica, 2-0. In the final, they fell to AC Pumas, 1-0.

GOLF: The second annual Jerry Gemmer/Bill Kaminska Memorial Golf Tournament will be Aug. 19 at Chestnut Hill Country Club in Darien Center. Shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. Cost is $100 per golfer. VOLLEYBALL: A coed tournament called the KEVA Spikefest will be held Aug. 8 at the Olean Times Herald's volleyball courts. Power, semipower, high school and recreational teams are welcome.
