Nine consultants have responded to City Council-School Board ads that call for hiring a firm to help both entities become more efficient individually and find ways for them to save money by sharing services.
At a joint meeting in April, the City Council and the Board of Education agreed to cooperate in finding a consultant to conduct a study that would help them increase efficiency in operations to cut costs and save taxpayers money.
School Superintendent Carmen A. Granto said school business administrator James Ingrasci and city grants writer Paul Colangelo, who submitted the ads, have received an "expression of interest" from nine of them. "They're from all over the country."
Hailing from as close as Niagara Falls to as far away as Texas, the consultants are: David Robertson, of Niagara Falls; Charles Zettek, of Rochester; Schumaker & Co., of Ann Arbor, Mich.; Altreya Consulting LLC of Rochester Systems Consulting Group, of Flemington, N.J.; Virchow, Krause & Co. LLP, of Madison, Wis.; MTG of America, of Tallahassee, Fla.; Berry, Dunn, McNeil & Parker, of Portland, Maine; and Berkshire Advisors, of Austin, Texas.
Granto said he hopes the school district and the city will be able to hire one of them sometime this fall so the study can begin.
