A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday for Najeeba M. Karam, an Arabic singer who performed throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico for about 35 years. She was 93.
Mrs. Karam died Thursday in Ridgeview Manor Nursing Home in Buffalo.
A native of Troy, the former Najeeba Morad graduated from high school in New Bedford, Mass., and moved to Buffalo in 1952.
She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. John Maron Church, Williamsville, and enjoyed cooking.
Survivors include two sons, Michael T. of Buffalo and David of Cheektowaga; three sisters, Freda Thomas of Hyde Park, Mass., Rose Mobayed of Dorchester, Mass., and Edna Swanson of Boston, Mass.; seven brothers, Frederick Morad of Dorchester, James, Joseph, Edward and Naseer Morad, all of Quincy, Mass., Victor Morad of Holbrook, Mass., and Michael Morad of N. Quincy, Mass.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Toufic M. Karam, Mrs. Karam's husband of 39 years, died in 1991.
The Mass was held in St. John Maron Church. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna.
