Jesse J. Chase of Buffalo, a retired autoworker, died Saturday in Sisters Hospital after a brief illness. He was 89.
Born in St. Francisville, La., Mr. Chase had lived in this area since 1952. He worked 40 years at the Chevrolet Tonawanda Foundry Plant, retiring in 1982 as a facility safety inspector.
A Mason, he was a member of Progressive Lodge 16 in New Orleans. He was the founder of the New Jesse Chase Brotherhood Chorus.
Survivors include his wife, the former Hilda A. Riley; two sons, J. Ronnie of Phoenix and Carl D. of Buffalo; and one grandchild.
Services will be held at noon Friday in Bethel AME Church, 1525 Michigan Ave. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
