GOING STRONG:FOR A CENTURY AND THEN SOME

Thinking young: Theresea "Tess" Giunta, of Lackawanna, the oldest woman in Western New York, displays a picture taken when she was 90 as friends and family celebrate her 104th birthday Sunday afternoon in Elma. She grew up on Swan Street in Buffalo and worked as a telephone operator and a waitress before becoming owner and operator of the Poplar Inn in South Buffalo. The self-proclaimed "bowling queen" of Recckio's Lanes for 40 years, she stopped bowling weekly at the age of 85.
