ROSE M. SCERE, AIRPORT GIFT SHOP MANAGER
MARCH 5, 1922 -- JULY 22, 2004

Rose M. Scere of Cheektowaga died Thursday in the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Cheektowaga, after a brief illness. She was 82.

Born Rose Calderone in Du Bois, Pa., she had managed a gift shop at Buffalo Niagara International Airport and owned a delicatessen.

A member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church, she served as secretary of its senior citizens club.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Thomas Sr.; a daughter, Patricia Backus of Hamburg; three sons, Thomas Jr. of Depew, Gregory of Amherst and Dennis of Cheektowaga; four sisters, Virginia Calderone of Hamburg, Viola Heiney of Buffalo, Helen Babarsky of Virginia and Genevieve Olsen of California; two brothers, Joseph Calderone of California and Angelo Calderone of Florida; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Barnabas Church, 2049 George Urban Blvd., Depew, after prayers at 9:30 in Pacer Funeral Home, 2225 George Urban Blvd., Depew. Entombment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
