BOY, 8, RIDING BICYCLE HIT BY CAR IN CLARENDON

An 8-year-old Clarendon boy was listed in satisfactory condition Saturday after being struck by a car Friday night.

Daniel B. Doray, of Brown Schoolhouse Road, was struck near his home at about 7:30 p.m. as he rode his bicycle from a neighbor's driveway into the road, according to Orleans County sheriff's investigators.

The motorist, Jack C. Nelson, 72, of Barre, told police that his visibility was hampered by glare from the sun. Investigators said that it is unlikely Nelson will face any charges.

They also said the boy wasn't wearing a required bicycle safety helmet.

Daniel was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, by the Clarendon Volunteer Fire Company ambulance.
