MAKING USE OF YOUR LEFTOVER YARN

Like the scraps of expensive hard wood that woodworkers collect, every experienced crocheter has a collec tion of odd skeins of yarn left over from other projects. Although there's not enough to complete anything new, it's too nice to throw away. Wouldn't it be great to find a way to use up all those odds and ends?

Now a 17-page guidebook, "Re versible Scrap Afghans," makes it easy to work through your leftovers basket. The book features step-by- step instructions for five lovely de signs that use no more than one skein of each yarn color (plus addi tional skeins of one main color). As a bonus, each quick and easy design is reversible, so it's like getting two afghans in the time it takes to make one.

If you're a beginner, instructions for the popular "crochet on the dou ble" hook technique and a stitch guide will help you get started. Plus, there are instructions for making fringe to give your afghans the perfect finishing touch. Designs include "Aurora Strip ings" (pictured), "Stained Glass," "Scrappy Squares," "Fiesta Fantasy" and "Colors for Baby."

The "Reversible Scrap Afghans" guidebook, No. AN1331, is $6.95. You can find 20 other scrap afghan de signs in a 60-page guidebook called "The Ultimate Book of Scrap Af ghans," No. AN1272, for $12.95. Please include $3 for postage and handling and allow about two weeks for delivery.
