CORTLAND PLANT TO REOPEN

An Indian company is buying a former television component plant here and plans to start up production again, creating 200 jobs, company officials said.

International Electron Devices USA plans to start hiring people in three or four months, Linda Hartsock, executive director of the Cortland County Business Development Corporation and Industrial Development Agency

The sale of the former Buckbee-Mears factory is subject to approval of the court overseeing BMC Industries' reorganization under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The idle plant will again be used to make television aperture masks, sheets of metal with tiny holes used to create images.
