The Rev. Francis J. Seymour, a Buffalo native who later moved to California, died May 17 in a Los Angeles nursing home after a long illness. He was 73.
He was born in Buffalo and graduated from St. Teresa's School in 1944. He completed four years at Little Seminary of St. Joseph and the Little Flower, followed by two years at Canisius College.
Father Seymour returned to the city regularly and participated in St. Teresa's reunions.
After his discharge from the Air Force in 1955, he worked as an insurance adjuster before entering St. John's Seminary in 1956. He was ordained in 1961.
In 1981, Father Seymour was named pastor of St. Philip Neri Church in Lynwood, Calif., where he served until 1988. He later served as pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Carpinteria, Calif., then associate pastor of St. Genevieve's Church in Panorama City, Calif., and, lastly, senior priest at All Souls Church in Alhambra, Calif.
Survivors include two brothers, Paul of West New York, N.J., and Edward of Glenridge, N.J., and a sister, Mary T. Wode of Irving.
