HIRES/PROMOTIONS/HONORS
International Steel Group (ISG) promoted Christopher R. Richards to operations manager for the Lackawanna Finishing and Coating Division. Most recently division manager -- quality assurance, logistics and customer service, Richards joined Bethlehem Steel Corp. in Lackawanna in 1989.

The Western New York Technology Development Center, a Buffalo consulting services provider, named David Hallett a manufacturing consultant. A graduate of the State University at Buffalo, Hallett previously owned Hallett Consulting.

The Pharmacists Society of the State of New York honored James R. Coppola with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals 2004 Bowl of Hygeia Award for outstanding community service recently. Coppola is the former owner of Getzville Pharmacy and is retired from Tops Markets Pharmacy. Currently, Coppola serves as a region representative for the PSSNY. Also, the society awarded Coppola the Honorary President's Recognition and Pin for his years of unswerving devotion, dedication and service to PSSNY and the profession.

West Herr Auto Group appointed Gary Gleba general counsel. Most recently a partner in the Buffalo office of Phillips Lytle, Gleba has advised West Herr as outside counsel for nearly a decade.

The Grand Island Town Board named Jerry Doane chairman of the Economic Development Advisory Board. Other officers are: Vice chairman, Roy Gerard, and secretary, Mary Sommer. Members are: John Bonora, Bev Kinney, Mike Heftka, Hank Carrol and Ted Bates.

COMPANY ITEMS
The orthodontic office of Dr. Rebecca Falsafi has moved to a new location at 6161 Transit Road in East Amherst. Dr. Falsafi is also an assistant clinical professor in orthodontics at the State University at Buffalo.

The Orchard Park Chamber of Commerce announced that its latest Business Community Beautification Award went to Rider Frames & Gallery, owned by Ed and Lynn Rider. The award is given quarterly by the Chamber.

CXtec, the Syracuse-based company with offices in Buffalo, has been named in HR Magazine as among the top 50 Best Small & Medium Companies to Work For in America. CXtec ranked 11 out of 25 in the medium business category of the list, which recognizes companies that use smart people management strategies to develop a strong trust between employees and management. The announcements were made by the Society of Human Resource Management and were selected and ranked by the Great Place to Work Institute based on the results of a randomly distributed employee opinion survey.
