A service for Eddie Little Sr., a former Buffalo and Grand Island resident, was recently held in Las Vegas.
He died June 17 after a brief illness. He was 76.
Mr. Little, who retired from John W. Cowper Construction Co. in 1990 after 30 years of service as a construction worker, moved to Las Vegas last year to be close to his only child, Eddie Jr.
Family members described Mr. Little as an avid sportsman who loved camping and fishing. He also enjoyed watching baseball and football.
In addition to his hobbies, he and his wife of 53 years, the former Benighta Flood, opened their home to foster children for 15 years.
"Eddie's love of life and for children was expressed through the many years he and his wife dedicated themselves to under-privileged children as foster parents," said Willie Mae Banks, his niece.
While living in Buffalo, he was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and later Faith Baptist Church. When he moved to Grand Island about 30 years ago, he joined Trinity Baptist Church.
Besides his wife and son, he is survived by a granddaughter.
