A memorial service for Daniel J. Distler, a former Clarence resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in New Beginnings Church, 12501 Broadway, Alden.
He died July 14 in his Oswego home after a long illness. He was 53.
Mr. Distler grew up in the Northtowns and graduated from Clarence High School. He worked as a graphic artist, first at Printing Prep, then Faller, Klenk & Quinlan advertising agency. His work included the design of the Erie County SPCA in the Town of Tonawanda.
Mr. Distler moved to Syracuse around 1980, working as an art director and later attending Syracuse University as a photography major. He moved to Oswego in 1993 and operated a business, Distler Communications, until his death. He received numerous awards for his work throughout his career.
Surviving are his parents, Jack and Margaret of Clarence, and two sisters, Mary Lou Beaumont of Strykersville and Donna Payne of Alden.
