MAN'S BODY RECOVERED FROM THE LOWER NIAGARA
NIAGARA FALLS, ONT. -- An off-duty Niagara Regional Police officer who was boating in the lower Niagara River Monday spotted the body of a man in the water.
At 8:15 p.m., members of the Niagara Regional Police Marine Unit recovered the body about a mile north of the public boat ramp near Queenston, Ont.
Members of the Niagara Parks Police and 22 Division Detective Office have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, according to a departmental news release.
Foul play is not suspected. Police said the man is a New York State resident but declined to identify him.
BORDER PATROL SEIZES TWO ATOP FREIGHT TRAIN
A 15-year-old Canadian juvenile and a man from the United States were caught Tuesday morning trying to illegally cross into Buffalo on top of a freight train, Border Patrol officials said.
Ed Duda, deputy chief of the local Border Patrol, said agents discovered the two at about 10 a.m. on the train on Squaw Island.
Authorities said the juvenile was turned over to Canadian officials, while the man was being held at the Peace Bridge for questioning.
