Williamsville South graduate Ronnetta Alexander won the gold medal in the women's 100-meter hurdles at the recent World Junior Track and Field Championships in Grosetto, Italy. Alexander, now attending South Carolina, won the final event in 13.28 seconds despite suffering an injured left hamstring.

HOCKEY: Captains interested in placing a team in one of HockeyBuff's senior winter leagues will meet July 27 at 9 p.m. at the Amherst Pepsi Center. There are three leagues, one for elite players age 25 and older, that play Mondays and Tuesdays at North Buffalo Rink; a Tuesday-Wednesday league for intermediate players 35-over at Amherst Pepsi Center; and a Sunday league for intermediate players 25-over at Amherst Pepsi Center.
