WOMAN CUT LIGHTLY, PUNCHED BY BURGLAR

An Eighth Street woman was cut lightly with an unknown object Sunday when she tried to detain a burglar inside her home.

The woman told police she awoke from sleep just after 2 p.m. and started to go outside for a cigarette when she noticed a man rummaging through a box outside her bedroom door.

She grabbed the intruder by the arm and was scratched across the arm in the ensuing scuffle. The burglar then punched the woman in the face before fleeing with $300 cash from an envelope inside the box.
