A memorial Mass for Thaddeus I. Malinowski, a retired National Fuel sales manager and World War II veteran, was offered Saturday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Town of Tonawanda.
Mr. Malinowski, who was born in Buffalo, died Wednesday in his Town of Tonawanda home after a brief illness. He was 88.
He was a graduate of St. John Kanty High School in Erie, Pa., and attended Canisius College. He served in the Navy, achieving the rank of petty officer first class, and served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bataan.
Mr. Malinowski worked for National Fuel from 1967 until his retirement in 1979.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Town of Tonawanda Senior Citizens and enjoyed playing the violin and keyboard.
His wife, Irene Kolipinski Malinowski, died in 1999.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara M. Smith of the Town of Tonawanda; two sons, Thaddeus Jr. of North Tonawanda and Eric of Hamburg; two sisters, Angeline Kasprzak of Cheektowaga and Dorothy Mankowski of Lancaster; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
