Planning an afternoon shopping trip or a night out on the town?
Following are some restaurants in and just outside Niagara County visited in the past several years by News Restaurant Reviewer Janice Okun and other staff reviewers.
Jet Port 7100 Porter Road, Town of Niagara (297-9778). A restaurant that succeeds by offering its customers familiar dishes in standard formats.
Yianni's 8025 Niagara Falls Blvd., Niagara Falls (283-3177). Lots of choices for not a lot of money like walking through a door to good old days, when you could get a hot, home-cooked meal for a fiver.
Wagner's Grill 1/2 2672 Lockport Road, Sanborn (731-4440). The quality of the food -- especially the crockpot specials -- plus the bucolic setting, make Wagner's a place to linger.
Bandana's Bar and Grill 930 Lake Road, Youngstown (745-1010). It looks like a rough roadside tavern but delivers well-executed comfort food with thoughtful touches, along with the usual Western New York basics.
Steelhead 453 Center St., Lewiston (754-8181). That tried and true saying, "There's something for everyone," applies at Steelhead.
Justin Tyme 1/2 6124 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls (283-1339). A NASCAR-themed restaurant that specializes in sandwiches and desserts made by the owner's mother.
Vic's 1/2 7220 Porter Road, Town of Niagara (297-9341). An inconspicuous location on a well-traveled road. It features hot dog stand fare with a good variety of sandwiches.
Sandi's Family Restaurant 2065 River Road, Wheatfield (283-5257). A typical middle-American menu that includes a plethora of pleasing pies.
Carmelo's Coat of Arms 425 Center St., Lewiston (754-2311). Top-quality, mostly Italian cuisine served in linen-tablecloth-flickering-votive-can-d les-soft-music place that begs you to sit back and relax.
