Blasdell has five used-car lots, all on South Park Avenue, and no more would be allowed for the next six months under a proposed moratorium that will be the subject of a public hearing at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Village Hall.
The village isn't necessarily trying to ban additional lots -- and none is currently proposed -- but rather wants to give the Planning Board and other officials the opportunity to study the master plan and zoning codes before allowing any more, Village Administrator Janet Plarr said.
Three of the five Planning Board members (there are two vacancies) are relatively new and "we want to give them an opportunity to look at what we are trying to achieve with the master plan and the Walkable Communities concept," she said.
"We have a new, more active Planning Board, with a new chairman (David Adrian), and we want to make sure everything fits together," Plarr said.
A regular meeting of the Village Board will follow the public hearing at 7:30.
