Olympia Sports, a retail sporting goods company with 118 stores, is expanding its presence in New York state.

Olympia, headquartered in Westbrook, Maine, opened stores in Batavia and Canandaigua about three weeks ago and now has 11 stores in New York, including locations in Auburn, Delmar, Newburgh, Olean, Oneida, Oneonta, Rensselaer, Schenectady and Yorktown Heights.

The company had $135 million in sales last year and is looking to open 20 to 25 stores in the next 12 months. Six to 10 of those stores may be in New York State, according to a company news release. Thom Meschinelli, human resources manager, did not return calls seeking comment.

Olympia's stores are just over 4,000 square feet. Dick's Sporting Goods' stores average about 48,500 square feet, according to the company's annual report.
