NIAGARA FALLS FAIRE TO FEATURE FUN

NIAGARA FALLS -- Circus and magic shows, fire trucks, crafts and animals all will be part of the 16th annual Kidfest! planned for noon to 5 p.m. Saturday as part of the four-day Niagara Falls Community Faire in Hyde Park.

Twenty agencies will offer information and hands-on events, including art projects and fitness games.

Jacalyn Perry of Second Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation and Jeff Musial of Nickel City Reptiles will be on hand with animals. Carl Schifano, Niagara Arts Council education director, will help youngsters make clay pots for 50 cents.

The Entertainment Tent will present the Benjamin Franklin Circus Club from Cleveland, from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.; Buffalo & Brandy's magic, drama and singing show, from 2 to 3; and the circus club, from 4 to 5.

Children can have their picture taken aboard a city fire truck for $1. They also can explore a fire safety house to learn how to survive a fire. Free child fingerprinting also will be available.

Parking ramp closed for cleaning

LOCKPORT -- The city parking ramp at Main and Pine streets was closed for cleaning as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, Public Works Commissioner Gary M. Andes said.

It will reopen Saturday.

City crews are power-washing the interior to remove road salt and winter grime and debris, Andes said.
