State Sen. Mary Lou Rath, R-C, Williamsville, is providing grade-school children in her 61st District the opportunity to participate in the State Senate's Summertime Reading Railroad program.

To participate, children should read at least three age-appropriate books during the summer, other than those required for school. Children who sign up for the program will be given a Reading Railroad diary to keep track of the books they read and describe their reading adventures. At the end of the summer, those who successfully complete the program will receive a special certificate for their efforts.

To participate in the Reading Railroad program, contact Rath's district office at (716) 633-0331 or (800) 597-3517.
