The Cheektowaga Community Chorus and Millennium Youth Chorus invite the Western New York community to a sing-in of Handel's "Messiah" at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the University Presbyterian Church, 3334 Main St. Come and sing or listen. There is no admission. A free will donation will be taken to benefit the church's food pantry as part of the "Handel on Hunger" project of Moore Vocal Arts Inc. in North Carolina, which encourages collections for the hungry whenever Handel's "Messiah" is performed.

Amherst Youth Board Summer Musical Theatre will audition young singers for the musical, "Sweet Charity," from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday June 13 and 9 to 11 a.m. or 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 14 at the Harlem Road Community Center, 4255 Harlem Road, Amherst. Singers must be entering eighth grade through age 20 and live or attend school in the town. No audition appointment is necessary, but performers must remain for one entire two-hour timeblock. Come prepared to sing and dance. The show will be staged at 7 p.m. Aug 7 to 9. For more information, call 631-7215.

Nichols senior Angela Lopez will perform a solo dance concert which she has choreographed and directed at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Nichols Flickinger Performing Arts Center, Amherst Street near Colvin. The concert is free and open to the public.

A team from Orchard Park High School placed first in the Erie County Envirothon, a hands-on natural sciences competition, for the second year in a row. Springville Griffith was second and Lakeshore was third. Orchard Park now moves to the state competition. For information on the envirothon, call Megan Gollwitzer at 652-8480.
