Anita M. Tooke, 67, a secretary, died Tuesday (May 27, 2003) in her home after a long illness.
Born Anita M. Stacy in North Tonawanda, she lived in East Amherst for the past 23 years and worked for the last seven years as a secretary at Courtyards Florist in Williamsville.
She was a graduate of Tonawanda High School who loved to do crafts, especially those involving flowers, and knit sweaters and baby hats to give to friends and neighbors.
She was a fan of most sports, especially those in which her family members participated. She enjoyed watching her granddaughter play softball on the Williamsville Lasers team.
Her family remembers her as having a "passion for gift-wrapping," often adding special and elaborate touches to gifts.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, James; a daughter, Jayne Dessereaux of Middlebury, Conn.; two sons, James Jr. of Baldwinsville and Jay of East Amherst; two brothers, the Rev. Robert Stacy of Middletown, Ohio, and Norman Stacy of Depew; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Tonawanda Church of Christ, Delaware and Summit streets, City of Tonawanda. Burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
