Jean K. Brown, parish secretary at St. Gerard's Catholic Church since 1974, died Saturday (May 24, 2003) in St. Joseph Hospital, Cheektowaga, after a brief illness. She was 82.
She had previously worked at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church from 1969 to 1974.
Born Jean Ludwig in Buffalo, she graduated from Mount St. Joseph's High School.
Mrs. Brown sang with the Bavarian Singers and in the choirs of St. Gerard's, St. Mary Magdalene and St. Agnes parishes. She was a Eucharistic minister at St. Gerard's Catholic Church and a member of the Bishop's Committee and of the Christian Family Movement.
Her husband of 41 years, William A., died in 1987.
Survivors include five daughters, Claudia DiSarno and Celeste Zachritz, both of Buffalo, Regina Przybyl of the Town of Tonawanda and Joemma Tyx and Veronica Roehner, both of Cheektowaga; two sons, William P. of Cicero and Stephen of Buffalo; two sisters, Eileen Burns of Hamburg and Marge Johnson of Getzville; three brothers, Joseph Ludwig of Williamsville, Paul Ludwig of Hamburg and Edward Ludwig of Fredonia; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Gerard's Church, 1190 E. Delavan Ave. Prayers will be said at 8:45 in Amigone Funeral Home, 569 Cleveland Drive, Cheektowaga. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
