Rose T. Vaccaro, of Kenmore, a retired secretary, died Friday (May 23, 2003) in Millard Fillmore Hospital after a long illness. She was 83.
Born Rose T. Ruggiero in Buffalo, she graduated from Grover Cleveland High School and worked for Local 264, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, for more than 20 years before her retirement in 1985.
True to her Buffalo roots, she loved to watch the Bills. She also enjoyed playing bingo and pinochle, watching volleyball, traveling to such places as Las Vegas and seeing musicals and dance recitals.
Her husband of 60 years, Santo, who was known as Sandy, died in 1996.
Survivors include two daughters, Carmille Mercurio of Depew and Sandra Trapasso of North Tonawanda; a son, Leonard of Kenmore; two sisters, Ann Sardo of Town of Tonawanda and Mae Cretacci of Buffalo; and four grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1085 Englewood Ave., Town of Tonawanda, following prayers at 10 in Amigone Funeral Home, 2600 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
