The Buffalo Sabres named Dan DiPofi chief operating officer. Previously with the Rochester Americans, DiPofi returns to the Sabres after working for the organization from 1989 to 1998. DiPofi will be responsible for the day-to-day business operations of the team and HSBC Arena. The Sabres also named John Livsey director of corporate sales, and Jody Ulrich director of suite sales. Livsey was also a member of the Sabres organization from 1986 to 1993, and most recently was vice president of marketing and business development for the Rochester Americans. Previously, Ulrich worked for the Buffalo Bills Television Network.

The Buffalo Executives' Association elected Thomas F. Keenan of M&T Bank president. Others elected are: John A. Bruno, vice president; Bruce C. Eaton, treasurer; Randell B. Markarian, secretary; Elaine Kutler, Victor Liberatore, Marc Connelly, Bruce Fowler and Eric Page, directors.

Foit-Albert Associates, Architecture, Engineering and Surveying named Warren Shaw a new associate and Paul Cassillo director of technical services. Shaw's experience as a civil engineer ranges from design to rehabilitation. Cassillo previously served as commissioner of the Dutchess County Department of Public Works.

First Niagara Bank named Michael W. Harrington senior vice president and treasurer. Previously with Equity Bank, an affiliate of Susquehanna Bancshares in Marlton, N.J., Harrington brings more than 16 years of diverse banking and financial management experience to the position. The bank also promoted Mary K. Nassoiy to vice president, consumer lending. With the bank since 1989, Nassoiy has overseen the growth and development of First Niagara's consumer lending activities and portfolio and oversees direct and indirect consumer loan processing, underwriting and closing, including education loans.

The U.S. Green Building Council certified Mark French of Trautman Associates as a LEED Accredited Professional.

Brock, Schechter and Polakoff accountants named Jessica Brown staff accountant. Brown performs a variety of taxation, accounting and auditing services at the firm.

Ciminelli Development Co., a commercial real estate firm, promoted James M. Gottstine to vice president. With the company since 1990, Gottstine will continue to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Capital Management and Acquisitions Department as well as work with the leadership team on general business issues and opportunities.

The Eye Institute of Buffalo named Dr. Richard R. Stout associate ophthalmologist. Stout brings nearly 20 years of private practice experience as a specialist in the diagnosis and management of eye diseases and as an eye surgeon.

AirSep Corp., an Amherst manufacturer of medical respiratory devices and industrial oxygen generating systems, promoted Mark R. Mizerkiewicz production manager and Marilyn Seitz facilities manager. Mizerkiewicz is responsible for manufacturing operations and service for the company's medical products. Seitz previously worked as an executive assistant and corporate travel coordinator.

Allstate Insurance Co. agent David Miller was awarded the title of Personal Financial Representative. It means Miller can provide customers with variable annuity, variable life and mutual fund products.

LPL Financial Services named Thomas Czechowski Jr. financial consultant and business associate in the office of Thomas Cechini. Czechowski is responsible for handling both family estate planning and business financial planning as well as normal brokerage duties.

Eric Mower and Associates, a marketing communications agency, appointed Kyle R. Kotary senior account supervisor -- public affairs. Kotary is responsible for providing public affairs and public relations counsel and services to clients in all of its upstate New York offices.

Account Solutions Group, an Amherst-based consumer collections agency, named Al Cooper senior vice president, director of operations. In this new position, Cooper's responsibilities will incorporate management of ASG's operations staff, associates, technological insight and strategic business development. Previously, Cooper served as executive vice president of direct banking for HSBC North America.

The Canisius College Accounting Society honored M&T Bank chief financial officer Michael P. Pinto as Accountant of the Year at their annual banquet. The society also honored George F. Kermis III, associate professor of accounting at Canisius College, with the Dr. Joseph R. Coppola Award.

The Buffalo Niagara Partnership appointed Hiscock and Barclay attorney Richard Day to its Community Council.

First Niagara Bank promoted Candy Karsten to banking officer. Karsten manages the company's human resources information system and payroll.

Goldhaber Research Associates, an Amherst-based market research firm, appointed Monique Davis project manager and Christopher Post assistant market research manager. Davis has previous grant reviewing, writing and management experience. Post has five years in sales and marketing experience. Also, Arun Vishwanath, director of research, recently relocated to the Western New York area from Bloomington, Ind.

Lake Shore Behavioral Health, a mental health and chemical dependency provider, appointed Salvatore C. Durante chief financial officer. Durante will oversee the administrative infrastructure activities relating to business and finance, human resources and facilities.

North American Technician Excellence awarded Barry A. Sherer and Steven M. Bower of Heating and Air Conditioning Ltd. certification as service and installation technicians for gas furnaces.

The Insurance Women of Buffalo honored Michael C. Tylwalk Jr., president of First Niagara Risk Management, with their Employer of the Year award.

Cenergy Sports and Entertainment, a full-service sports and entertainment marketing firm, appointed Barbara Erickson manager of the advertising and promotional division. Erickson previously served as regional marketing manager for Adelphia Communications.

The Kenmore Mercy Foundation appointed Shari Hirt director of community relations and Elizabeth Forman administrative assistant. Hirt is responsible for coordinating the Foundation's public and community relations effort. Forman provides support for all the various programs offered.

Blue Seal Feeds in Arcade promoted Don Worthington third shift plant foreman. He has worked for the company since 1995.
