Margaret G. Brown, 83, of Lewiston, owner of Kenwood Nurseries and Brown's Greenhouse in Lewiston for more than 50 years, died Sunday (May 18, 2003) in Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, after a brief illness.

Born Margaret Hawkes in Niagara Falls, she attended local schools.

She owned and operated the greenhouse with her husband, Kenneth R. She was a member of Cornell Cooperative Extension in Lockport, with a particular interest in herbs and alternative health foods.

Her husband died in 1994.

Survivors include a son, George H. of Lewiston; a stepson, Russell of Lafayette, Ind.; a sister, Helen Thompson of Madras, Ore.; and two stepgrandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Hardison Funeral Home, 410 Ridge St. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria.
